We need a real uprising to be liberated

Nazhad Osman Saed – Activist

It’s clear to many in South Kurdistan that the nature of oppression has shifted. The uprising, initially against Arab oppression, has seemingly been replaced by Kurdish oppression. A non-Kurdish tyrant has been overthrown, only to be replaced by a Kurdish one. The change has been in the oppressor, not the oppression itself. In fact, the suffering has arguably intensified. When a person, group, system, or authority, foreign to your blood and race, perceives Kurds as devils and threats to their existence, they will attack everything you hold sacred: your dignity, land, water, and nature. Their goal is your eradication as individuals, as a nation, as a people. While a non-Kurdish oppressor might have justifications, however inhumane, for their actions, why should we tolerate a Kurdish dictatorial system that is presented as superior to a non-Kurdish democratic one? Why do you oppress your own citizens and instigate civil strife? You are seizing the very sources of life, land given by God, not inherited from your ancestors. What divine law or human justice permits you and your families to amass unproductive fortunes while ordinary people struggle for basic rights, rights stolen by the Kurdish regime? When they protest, you slander them with false accusations and even treason through your official and clandestine channels. In short, a genuine uprising is necessary because the root causes of the original oppression remain. During the Ba’ath regime, there was employment, regular salaries, land allocation, and housing loans. Schools and hospitals were free. There was no market monopoly, no counterfeit medications, no expired food or fuel. There were no electricity shortages or generator problems. We had the necessities of life, but lacked freedom. Under the post-uprising regime on 5/3/1991 , we have no will, no money, no jobs, no electricity, no fuel, no salaries, no hope, no bread, and no freedom. Are we liberated or re-occupied? Now, tell me, is there a more justifiable reason for an uprising again and again against these KLEPTROCRACY AUTHORITIES ?
