Following events such as the Anfal Campaign, chemical warfare, displacement, and genocide, the most recent model of the oppression of the Kurdish people involves the systematic denial of their economic rights and the confiscation of their assets by the fascist Iraqi government. This policy is part of a broader strategy aimed at undermining Kurdish identity and autonomy.
The withholding of wages in the Kurdistan Region is a clear form of economic manipulation, intended to control and subjugate the Kurdish population. It stands in stark contrast to the principles of peace and reconciliation, highlighting the government’s failure to recognize the Kurdish people’s legitimate rights, as outlined in their own constitutional and legal frameworks.
Furthermore, the occupation of parts of Kurdistan, the restriction of oil exports, and the denial of access to the region’s natural resources represent the latest tactics in a genocidal campaign. These actions are not merely political decisions but are part of a larger, ongoing effort to strip the Kurdish people of their assets and rights.
It is crucial to recognize that economic pressure and the withholding of basic needs, such as wages and food, are not just strategic measures—they are forms of violence against the Kurdish people, stripping them of their dignity and rights to live freely.
