Lazo Mohammed – Activists
In Baghdad, those who are responsible often punish the citizens, public servants, and workers, while continuing to evade accountability for their actions. Sadly, the authorities in Baghdad frequently provide protection for the corrupt political leaders, shielding them from any consequences, while the people and workers suffer.
Why does Baghdad impose severe restrictions on the illegal trade of oil, but does nothing about the corrupt officials engaged in it? Why does the government turn a blind eye to the suffering of workers, focusing only on their salaries? It seems that, in Baghdad, the suffering of the people is secondary to the political interests of the authorities.
The government of the Kurdistan Region still fails to deliver on its promises of proper governance, as they base their decisions on a lack of responsibility rather than addressing real issues. As a result, many of the political decisions, including those related to salaries, become entangled in political conflicts and manipulation, causing further harm to the people.
Why are the people’s frustrations hidden behind political agendas? If the federal government truly wants to resolve these issues, they must engage with the people of the Kurdistan Region directly, without imposing policies that only serve to deepen the divide between the two governments.
Both Baghdad and Erbil claim to have implemented sanctions against each other, but the reality is that these measures often only harm the innocent people. Those who work honestly, who have no part in the political struggles, are the ones who suffer the most. Meanwhile, the political parties and their leaders continue their corruption, undeterred by any consequences.
In conclusion, every time the Barzani family moves towards further self-interest, the people of Kurdistan need to prepare for more injustice, inequality, and suffering. They have become pawns in a political game where the stakes are not their well-being, but the consolidation of power and wealth for the few. The people’s demands for justice, fairness, and decent livelihoods must be at the forefront of this struggle.
