Arsalan Ali Rashid – Activists
Following the formation of the new cabinet and the appointment of Masrour Barzani as Prime Minister, he was entrusted with responsibilities that should have been focused on governance and development. Instead, a figure from the intelligence and security apparatus — experienced and skilled in covert operations — took charge, deploying plans for silencing and eliminating journalists.
Since the day Masrour Barzani assumed power, his administration has produced weekly and monthly scenarios, designed not to address the people’s needs but to distract the public. To escape scrutiny and accountability, he has resorted to social media campaigns that stir controversy and provoke public sentiment against religion, artists, and journalists. These distractions also include mysterious killings and numerous other fabricated plots.
A large portion of the population in the Kurdistan Region has, over time, grown accustomed to this noise, especially through media and social platforms. However, many have begun to see through these staged events, recognizing them as deliberate narratives orchestrated by Masrour Barzani’s intelligence agencies.
Today more than ever, citizens must be vigilant. They should not fall prey to propaganda and manipulation disguised as news or viral videos on social media. Greater caution and awareness are essential when interpreting what is broadcasted and shared.
In the Kurdistan Region, there are over two thousand organizations — yet how many of them have come to the streets even once to stand with the people and defend their rights? Meanwhile, Masrour Barzani, who sees an informed and aware public as a threat, has cleverly realized that religious provocation is the most effective method of distraction. He uses this tactic to divert attention away from vital issues like oil, electricity, water, and unpaid salaries.
Indeed, this is a government cabinet that excels not in governance, but in writing and performing political dramas.
