On June 26, 2025, DAKOK Organization launched a powerful multi-city international campaign in solidarity with Kurdistan’s civil servants and teachers, who have suffered over a decade of wage delays, arbitrary pay cuts, and systemic human rights violations. Demonstrations were held simultaneously across seven major cities in the UK and Europe, marking an unprecedented show of unity from the Kurdish diaspora. The campaign aimed to draw international attention to the Kurdish authorities’ and Iraqi government’s failure to address the financial and institutional injustices endured by public sector workers. Sparked by recent crackdowns on peaceful protests in Sulaymaniyah, where teachers demanding their lawful salaries were arrested and intimidated, the campaign condemned the ongoing suppression of civil liberties and called for immediate action. DAKOK’s demands included the release of detained workers, full back-payment of salaries, constitutional guarantees for free expression and assembly, transparent public resource management, and international human rights monitoring. By mobilizing across borders, DAKOK highlighted the growing global support for justice in Kurdistan, emphasized the Kurdish diaspora’s organizational strength, and urged the UK and international community to hold Kurdish authorities accountable for their governance failures.
