On 5 May 2026, members of the Dakok Organization gathered in front of the Iraqi Embassy to demand the immediate release of imprisoned journalist Sherwan Sherwani. During the demonstration, Iraqi Embassy staff were observed monitoring protesters from inside the embassy premises. The activity was documented on camera by participants attending the protest. The demonstration coincided with the 16th anniversary of the assassination of Kurdish journalist Sardasht Osman in Erbil, marking a day that continues to reflect ongoing concerns over press freedom and the safety of journalists.
