Glasgow, 15 October 2026

Dakok Organisation held a peaceful demonstration outside the Iraqi Consulate in Glasgow as part of a coordinated campaign across seven UK cities under the title “Failure to Nationalise the Armed Forces Will Lead to Further Betrayal.”

The demonstration condemned the events of 16 October 2017, criticised the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and demanded unified national armed forces, an end to partisan militias, and the protection of Kurdish rights.

This was the first demonstration held outside the Iraqi Consulate in Glasgow.

During the protest, Iraqi consulate staff were reportedly observed opening the consulate door and monitoring the Kurdish activists. Their actions caused concern among participants, who felt uneasy about being observed by representatives of the Iraqi authorities while exercising their right to peaceful political expression.

Dakok documented the incident as part of its ongoing monitoring of Kurdish political activities in the United Kingdom. However, there is no confirmed evidence that individual protesters were identified or that their details were recorded.
