NAZHAD OSMAN SAED – Activist
The equation has been settled that Erbil has always been a peaceful city of coexistence for welcomed guests such as singers, foreign artists, dancers, Baathists, and PDK allies. In contrast, it has been a dangerous place for those who intended to express dissent against the injustice imposed on them. There is no need for Masoud Barzani to invite senior officials and leaders from Iraq, Kurdistan Region, global parliaments, and government representatives from America, Europe, and the Middle East, under the slogan “Towards Unity in Faith” supposedly taking place in Erbil on April 23-25, 2025.
He claims to have united everyone and everything, yet neither is unified nor anyone united!
Barzani’s initiative and prayers for unity would be more productive if they came from within. Since the beginning of Kurdish political leadership, they have acted contradictorily while considering themselves experienced politicians. The leadership that has existed since the 1960s has always faced outward while turning its back on internal matters, constantly trying to strengthen its party position through cooperation and deceiving foreign representatives, which has increased internal anger and resentment. Citizens ask: if we are full of solutions for all components and people outside our community, why are we constantly dying from stomach pains?!
Teachers, intellectuals, academics, experienced people, and ordinary citizens should ask: why isn’t this brotherly gathering, full of spirituality, prayers, and supplications to God, organized internally before being arranged for foreign representatives?!
Erbil is the capital of every partisan meeting except for expressing citizens’ dissent and demands! Under the PDK, Erbil is a place of peaceful coexistence and freedom for all religions that recognize them as leaders and don’t criticize their policies, but not for religious scholars like Master Abdul Rahman Kurdi, a Muslim from Erbil whom the party raided while he was ill and made him disappear along with several other Muslims. Is this the spiritual coexistence and brotherhood between components and religions?!
Is it reasonable that you’ve created such a feeling among people like us that if we post criticism today, tomorrow we fear visiting Erbil lest you harm us?
Is this your prayer for peace to God??
Is this your peaceful refuge for all of us?!
Honorable leader, please, from your spiritual atmosphere, pray for forgiveness for the religious teacher whose beard you burned!
Ask forgiveness from the Muslims whose mosque doors you closed during the sacred nights of Ramadan!
Apologize to the teacher you kicked!
Ask for God’s forgiveness for killing the religious teacher!
How should God forgive you when for years you have deprived Sherwan Sherwani’s children of their father’s affection?!
Does God really accept the prayers of someone who has violated people’s rights?!
The conditions for having one’s prayers answered are difficult, honorable leader!
