Massoud Barzani’s power struggle has been left to his sons and grandsons. In the past, he did not allow Idris Barzani, father of Nechirvan Barzani, to take power within the PKK and the Barzani family, Now, his son Masrour Barzani is trying to prevent Nechirvan Barzani’s power and reduce it.
The conflicts within the Barzani family have entered a new stage, the war of generations has emerged, Arin Masrour Barzani and Idris Nechirvan Barzani are the latest version of politics and business characters whose position is getting stronger and bigger at the expense of the nation, But their biggest battle is over who will replace their father and grandfather, Their conflicts are at a level where both sides are busy with major media work.
The conflict began when Masrour became prime minister of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet, He criticized his previous cabinets through Kurdistan 24 channel, while Nechirvan Barzani criticized Masrour Barzani’s cabinet through Rudaw Channel, and accusing his cabinet of lack of services.
and after that Masrour Barzani has banned Rudaw Channel from broadcasting in most government offices and does not allow it to receive any information, He also banned most of his closest members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) who hold positions within various government ministries from speaking to Rudaw channel.
Masrour Barzani did not stop there, he removed all the pictures of Nechirvan Barzani from all government institutions and (KDP) Party Offices, and Now instead of one picture, several pictures of Masrour Barzani are hanging in every government and (KDP) party offices, Even at the last congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Masrour Barzani weakened Nechirvan’s position at the level of all branches and regions of (KDP) party and strengthened his own.
The reactions increased and Areen Masrour Barzani and Idris Nechirvan Barzani got into conflict, and after Kurdistan 24 Channel failed to compete with Rudaw Channel, Areen Masrour Barzani decided to create Ava Media Channel, which now operates on a large scale, and tens of billions of dinars are spent on the government’s domestic revenue, and through this channel Nechirvan Barzani is criticized daily, and they praise Masrour Barzani and the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Basically Ava Media Channel was created to weaken the position of Nechirvan Barzani’s Rudaw channel. For this purpose, he hired dozens of Rudaw employees for huge sums of money, and alos Ava Media channel makes fun of Rudaw Channel and says that you are no longer the first unrivaled media, but now I am the first Kurdish media.
After Nechirvan Barzani felt that his position and Rudaw Channel were being weakened, and because of this things his son Idris Nechirvan Barzani decided to open another Channel outlet opposite Areen Barzani’s Ava media channel through Rwanga Foundation, Idris Barzani is the owner of Rwanga Foundation, and According to the information, the channel will be called Rwanga and a huge amount of money will be allocated by Nechirvan Barzani and Rwanga Foundation.
The struggle between Massoud Barzani’s descendants over positions, ranks and money is clearly felt. Their fight is likely to reach a climax and explode against each other soon. However until now, they cannot declare their fight because of the presence of their grandfather Massoud Barzani, But after Massoud Barzani’s death, their fight may not be far off and may be apperant in Massoud Barzani’s funeral, and Areen and Idris will accept nothing else from each other.
