Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Dakok Support Centre has issued a public call for immediate action to safeguard UK nationals and UK-issued travel document holders currently stranded in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The organisation, which advocates for human rights and supports vulnerable communities across the UK and abroad, has voiced growing alarm over the safety and welfare of those caught in the unfolding crisis.
The intensification of hostilities between Iran and Israel has created an atmosphere of fear, instability, and restricted mobility. Dakok reports that it is in direct contact with several individuals who remain in Iran and now face increasing risks, including limited access to support services, rising hostility, and legal uncertainty. Many of those affected are refugees or individuals under UK protection, while others are British citizens visiting family or travelling for essential reasons.
In recent days, the organisation has received multiple urgent appeals from individuals who say they have been left without clear guidance or assistance on the ground. Accounts include difficulties accessing consular information, fears of arbitrary treatment, and mounting concerns for personal safety. With international tensions high and civilian conditions deteriorating, those affected remain in limbo—cut off from reliable assistance and unsure how or when they might return home.
Dakok has formally raised these concerns with both the Home Office and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, urging the UK government to act swiftly to address the growing humanitarian implications of the crisis. The organisation emphasises the legal and moral responsibility to protect all those under UK jurisdiction, regardless of citizenship status, and stresses that timely intervention is critical to ensuring their safe return.
“Dakok is gravely concerned for the safety of UK nationals and UK-issued travel document holders in Iran,” “As a civil society organisation, we are doing everything in our power to monitor the situation, stay in contact with those affected, and support efforts to bring them to safety. These are individuals who believed in the protection the UK offers—now is the time to honour that trust.”
Dakok has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all UK-based communities during this period of international crisis and is offering assistance to those seeking information, coordination, or support while abroad.
